Share on Facebook 2009-02-24: Yappy Dog Sitting Delay

I couldn't stand to stare at that same goddamn post any longer. I don't even wanna go and check and see how long that's been up there. Don't tell me. No no, don't tell me.

Christ almighty have I been busy. Between walking Ed and Abby's dogs morning, day and night, feeding them, cleaning up their shit, and driving to and from home to do those various things, I swear my available daytime has been cut in half. That's like a painful ratio of free time to dog time. Painful.

I've been busy, as usual, working, working out (Boxing and Krav and Running, all capitalized to show that I am Very Serious) and yappy-dogging.

I'm just gonna throw this out there too: If you're going to get a dog you can't run with, or that can't play frisbee or something fun to throw, get a cat. I'm not a cat person in the least, but the fact that I can't multi-task by having my own fun while the dogs have fun... Well that's just inefficient. Of course, I can't speak for Ed and Abby, presumably they have fun doing things that the dogs can also do. I just don't.

But why go on? I'm like that person who only talks about their kids all goddamn day long: Stop talking about your kids. No one cares. Or perhaps that's not true. Some people might. People who also have nothing to talk about except kids would be thrilled to hear about how your decrepit son scored a goal at his soccer practice. I wouldn't.

What is that? What is it!?

This one is particularly current affairs as I was just Wikipedia'ing the word "Roger" the other day. Grab your walkie.

So I'm trying to put on weight. This seems like a funny and humorous statement, I'll admit. I also admit that funny and humorous is redundant and means the same thing.

My point is, I'm trying to put on weight. So I weigh myself at the same time every day (immediately after my morning pee, I figure that makes the most sense) for consistency. So far it's only been 2 days of data. I will certainly plot a graph if I am successful. I need to start lifting more weight, though. But I'm in the gym often enough, shouldn't be a problem. Wish me luck!

K, back to work. I have a new website idea that pure gold, but I'll tell you all about it when it works (or when I need you to start testing it out for me...)

Need a consult with a dietitian to help you achieve your desired weight?

Obviously - Mitch, 2009-02-25, 22:26:40

That and a personal trainer, yes. Yes I do.

weight gain = N-Large - prs, 2009-03-01, 16:44:58

Dude, get some N-Large if you want to put weight on. I gained ~30 lbs in a year and a lot of that can be attributed to that suppliment.

Jesus. 30 lb! - Mitch, 2009-03-02, 18:54:20

30 lbs seems a bit outta control. But I shall inquire!

Fran, 2009-03-04, 22:37:10

Just eat man. Supplements shmupplements. The graph! It's working!

yes, 30 lbs - prs, 2009-03-06, 11:47:42

Yeah man, ~30 lbs in a year. Granted, I was training pretty hard, 5 days a week for the entire year. While your bro recommends to "just eat" you will find you don't have the time (or money) to sit down and eat 5-6 meals a day, and this is where suppliments come in. Cost effective per gram of protein/calorie and much faster than preparing a meal and eating it. Now go forth and prosper.

Fran, 2009-03-08, 13:22:06

Yeah but... but... O.K. fine, buy your shmupplements.

too much protein= kidney failure - Nicole, 2009-03-09, 07:37:07

If you're eating normally and taking N-large.. you will be doubling if not tripling your protein needs. Once your body has the amount of protein it requires, (1g/kg max) any extra will just be excreted and will cause kidney and liver damage... I'm not completely against them if you dont have the time or effort to eat regular meals.. just watch protein intake!!

Lianne, 2009-03-11, 17:53:20

Mitch - "Li, put on 20 pounds" Li - "No" Mitch - "Come on, I'll be there to wipe away your pudgy tears" Now I will be there to wipe away your pudgy tears.

Hahah - Mitch, 2009-03-11, 19:44:47

Li! My tears won't be pudgy, they'll be ripped.

too much protein? - prs, 2009-03-12, 11:02:29

I can only speak from personal experience here, but I've eaten up to 300 grams of protein a day for an extended duration (1-1.5 yrs) and had no kidney side effects. The only effects I witnessed were gaining a lot of muscle mass, and having very bad gas (like when a dog farts) due to the intake of protein. I've been going to gyms consistenly since 1994 and have met a lot of people that would definitely qualify as taking more than 1g/kg of protein and have never heard of any of them suffering from kidney and liver damage. Now taking steroids on the other hand...

Nicole, 2009-03-12, 18:06:50

Well.. if you do any kind of research... you will see that excess protein causes liver and kidney damage. How would you know if it was damaging your kidneys unless you had the specific blood tests for kidney function ? You wouldn't! Anyway, it's a fact and excess protein is totally useless to your body.. more protein then your body needs is secreted in your urine. Look it up if you don't believe me.
