Share on Facebook 2008-05-19: Best. Weekend. Ever.

Best. Weekend. Ever.

Basically this weekend was amazing. Let's rewind. Let's take it back. I'm gonna take you back... to Friday.

So Friday rolls around, and here I am at work, working away. I'm working hard, because I have things to do. Well, perhaps not hard, per say, but harder than usual. Let's be realistic. When you're this good, you don't work hard, people just think you're working hard because the output is so damned solid.

Anyway, work ends, and I have plans to head to a bbq. So I (having driven my sweet ride to work) drive over to Rob & Annilou's place. The bbq is "Australian Burger" theme, so the burgers have pineapple and beets on them, with eggs, and bacon. I left the pineapple and beets off (sorry Aussies) but it was a damned fine burger regardless.

These girls get crazy 'round the eggs.
Now that's a real burger!
A burger even the Aussies can be proud of.
That is Rob.
That's Rob. He was instrumental in the pineapple and beets being implemented.
More of the bbq gang.
Lots of people having fun at a bbq.
Cool kids having bbq fun.
Mostly Annilou. Some of me.

For some reason this was very funny at the time.

This was the end result. The last piece of tin foil, draped over the top. It even worked a bit.

These guys are crazy funny and it was an awesome time. I eventually tore myself away to go to bed early, on account of having to work the next day.

Work the next day consisted of doing renovations at work. I was helping Ed out with prepping for the painter to come by and improve the situation as it were. Ross came too, for some extra manpower.

So fun!

These painters were fast, helped in part by 50 inch rollers.

I have no idea what Ed is doing in this photo. Unless he is in fact dancing.
Ross is a fine worker
With hired help that sexy, who needs a girlfriend?

Too much work and Ross starts to lose it.
Ross and I getting annoyed.
The baseboard stuff was seriously irritating.

The best parts of working are the rare times that I drive there.

After a fun-filled morning of intense manual labour, we did what came naturally: headed to the liquor store, bought two dozen coronas and a bunch of limes, and headed to Ed's place. We drank a bit, then grabbed ball gloves and headed down to the waterfront. It was so damned nice out. We played catch, we drank beer, we taught kids how to catch (while drunk), it was a perfect afternoon!

I decided to shoot a Sony Ericsson phone ad. Makes me want to buy one!
CAT Walking Machines
Ed is seriously in love with his CAT sandals. He talked about them for like 10 minutes.

Stranger's Kid 2
He was pretty hilarious.

I was enjoying the sun immensely. No shot of me in Ed's straw hat though (sad smiley face.)
Weird dog.
The dog hung out in the corner, for some reason? It has never done this before.

Check out Abby's fancy new nails!

Anyway, that day ended, and Sunday began. Sunday morning I went for a sweet ass run, like 15 km worth. It was pretty easy aside from the scorching ball of hydrogen hanging what felt like inches from my forehead. I thought I ran fast, but in that kind of heat it can be hard to tell. Next weekend 17 km. After my run though, I headed to lunch with Ross... then I went to work to do "real work", aka boring ass engineering work that pays the bills. (QuestAir's, not mine. Well, mine too.) It was actually nice and productive, and I checked in on the painter. That night, we all headed over to Bob and Lianne's place to for another BBQ.

Lianne, be nice.
Now gimme a nice smile. Atta girl.
A foot fight.
I took this photo, and ask myself "why?"

Sean John? Unforgiveable?
Ross: "'A life without passion is unforgiveable' and the name of the perfume is Unforgiveable!?"

WTF is up with Sean Puffy P-Diddy Daddy Coombs John. Why is that asshat always changing his name? I know it's a way overused joke, but I'm not joking, I seriously cannot imagine his thought process.

So there you have it. And now, today, Monday, I worked again ... finished up a whole bunch of stuff with Ross at QuestAir, moved everything back into place with the sketchy movers, and then had a great afternoon including (but not limited to): Indian food at Vij's, shopping at Future Shop (Christmas List arriving soon to a website near you) and playing "Sequence" at my house with Rob, Annilou and Colin.

Best. Weekend. Ever.

Mitch out.

ps: Although technically not part of the weekend, Thursday I went to Krav Maga and then met up with Mr. Colin, and we went straight to the beach with some Pale Ale. Best. Pre-weekend. Ever:

You heathen.

Robyn, 2008-05-20, 05:12:03

Are you sure that's really a dog and not just a hairball?

Weirdball? - Mitch, 2008-05-21, 09:29:42

Your giant dogs would indeed tower over poor, weird, Casey.
