Share on Facebook 2008-05-13: Aliens over Toronto
Today was amazing. I woke up relatively early, considering I got to bed at 3 AM (more on that later), and went for a run. Ah, so nice. It was windy, and so exhausting, but I managed to run 15.4 km at a 3:32 marathon pace, so I'm well on my way to being in shape. God I love running around Stanley Park, it's so damned nice.
And now I'm using my fancy new website to tell you all about it. Beautiful. This was my running route by the way: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1887436. Hella nice. Beach all the way, baby. Only the best for me.
So I spent the first half of the week (Monday to Wednesday) just col' chillin' in the T-dot. I met up with Max n' Heather, had some dinner (Thank you Heather you are the best) and then we all went out for some drinks at a nearby pub. The House? I dunno. They had crazy good chicken wings, that's all I can remember. Then this crazy person sitting on the sidewalk across the street started screaming like a crazy person (as crazy people are wont to do). It was so intensely irritating that I simply had to go. "I simply must go," I said. So we went.
I stayed in the Ramada. It wasn't all it was cracked up to be. It certainly wasn't $189 + taxes + $18 to park (wtf?) good. The bathroom sucked, because it's a "heritage" building. Which is synonymous for "crappy building".
Then I worked for two days, then flew home to Van-city. I got an early flight back, which was nice. Plus the remaining work week (Thursday + Friday) sure goes by quick when it's only two days.
Saturdays rule. I went to Krav Maga bright and early (at the unGodly hour of oh-900 hours) and kick some ass, then I have no idea what I did for the rest of the day. I do know that I eventually went to Tim and Andrea's party, which was crazy fun because we played Rockband. It was my first time. The guitar was pretty fun, the drums are hard as hell, and the singing is ridiculous enough that I did not try it. After that, I drove across the world to pick up Brocco-J. We went to the railway club for a drink, then met up with Ross and The Rizza at the Lion. They were so drunk as to be completely unusable as conversation though, so we ended up going to Cactus Club after for more drinks. Good thymes.
Sunday I went for a run (see above) and then Mr. Colin and I headed out to find a baseball glove! We wanted to play catch on the beach. The gloves at Canadian Tire were like a thousand dollars ($89.99), which was a bit out of our price range. So we tried to find a used sports store. After spending two thousand dollars in gas driving around all afternoon (~$12) we decided to just get our families to send us our old ball gloves and use those instead. Stupid baseball glove industry. What, does Exxon make ball gloves and 91 octane gasoline? Because they are both outrageously priced.
We did buy a frisbee though. Next time it's not crazily windy out we're hitting the beach for some major fris-action.
When I was in Toronto I was taking pictures of the CN tower, because I haven't really checked it out much before. I was taking these pictures while driving, of course:
Wait a second though. WTF is that!?
Let's take a closer look:
Clearly it is a photo of a ghost riding a broom:
Whatever it is, I obviously captured the first documented photograph of it. When they name the Alien-ghost, I expect it will be named after me. It had better be named after me.
